Street Vendors on Hitam Bridge to Soon Be Controlled

Hundreds of street vendors selling junks on Hitam Bridge, Jalan Jatinegara Barat II, Rawabunga Urban Village, East Jakarta, will soon be controlled because Jembatan Hitam River will be normalized. In addition, the sidewalk which occupied by the street vendors will be returned its function.

“This afternoon we gave the second warning letter since previously the matter has been socialized by the urban village officials,” stated Head of East Jakarta Satpol PP Operational Section, Agus Sidiki, Friday (6/6).

According to Sidiki, the street vendors have covered almost along Jalan Jatinegara Barat II. They even sell their merchandises on the bridge.

“ There are 130 street vendors selling electronics, spare parts, shoes, watches, trinkets. We’ll organize them all ,” he asserted.

If the street vendors still have guts to trade there in the future, Sidiki stressed that his party will immediately send the third warning letter (SP3) and do demolition afterwards.

“It will be coordinated for the officers’ preparedness to immediately do demolition. Once the SP3 is issued, the demolition will directly be carried out,” he said.
